The Village Experience
This 12-week class bundle incorporates our influence across History, Math, Science, English Language Arts, and Finance disciplines. For approximately 2 1/2 hours each week, you and your child will be immersed in these subjects from the perspective that exalts and uplifts our identity. The students will learn:
Our History: This Revolution covers the true story of how our ancestors in Africa were uprooted from their glorious homeland to endure capture, brutality, and discrimination. We tell the story of the resilient, strong, and marvelously brilliant ancestors as we approach American History from our perspective. Join us for this journey as we explore the complexities of our past and create pathways for the future success of our global community.
Math Exploration: We explore mathematical concepts introduced through various African cultures (Session 1 & 2).
Language Arts: Students are taught to develop and exercise literary techniques by deepening their understanding of parts of speech and literary devices. Students use their own creativity to artfully express themselves, honing their skills and developing new approaches to powerfully command language. We aim to help students learn to exercise their voices for a lifetime through writing and speaking well. This language arts session prepares students for our deep dive into other forms of written and verbal expression during the second semester.
Finance: Preparing our children to be self-sufficient in the short and long term is essential for our community. Students will develop financial literacy through investing. Each student will learn the fundamentals of investing, how the stock market works, and how to build and maintain a diversified portfolio.
Science: This year, our class will explore the basics of chemistry. From understanding the periodic table of elements to isotopes and balancing chemical equations, students will be enriched by our approach to this field of science. We present these concepts to students of all ages in our class, making the complexities of chemistry easy and fun to grasp.
